This book is easy to understand and covers basic dog training and tackling specific problems. The authors like the “reward with a treat” approach but they don’t rule out gentle corrections. They do warn against harsh corrections, explaining why punishment can make your dog fearful.

I am very much enjoying seeing myself and my dog in this book. I am very serious in my training, and this book has helped to laugh and lighten-up a bit. Jumping-up on visitors as a greeting has been a problem for us. Being that my dog is an 88lb German Shepherd, this is quite a problem. I realize now, from reading here, that a member of my household has been encouraging this behavior in how they respond to her, so now we will make some changes. The material in the book is light-hearted and pleasant to read, especially while explaining some weird things dogs do naturally. Great information to give you insight to your dog, and it will make you smile and say, “I’m gonna try that”.The info and recommended things to try is provided by many different authorities so you get a broad view. I would highly recommend this ‘easy-read’ book; it is excellent.

The book was slightly more generic than I was hoping for. But not terrible overall.
