We used the kindle edition of this book on our February trip to Florida. I’m a firm believer that travel books are more user friendly in print because I like to flip through the pages randomly to see what catches my eye or to easily go back to some interesting travel tip that I’d seen before I left home. It is harder to do this in e-books and this is no exception. Ignoring my issues with e-book travel guides, this book was extremely helpful and contained some great suggestions. We’d been to the Tampa area before on another trip and didn’t care for it much. With the help of the information in this travel guide we enjoyed this visit immensely. Not all the suggestions were for us and we didn’t agree with all the reviews but I expect that in a travel guide; travel is highly subjective and enjoyment is in the eye of the beholder. There were plenty of gems in these pages and I was glad for the purchase.

Too many guidebooks read like marketing brochures. Everything is great. But then you go and it’s not and you waste a lot of time. Consequently, when planning upcoming trips, particularly when I don’t know anyone who lives in a place, I appreciate insightful information. I was given this book when we were planning a trip to Tampa and really felt that it provided honest and useful information. The well-crafted prose also made for an enjoyable read. We haven’t taken our trip yet, but I have held onto this book!

Like so many travelers, when planning a trip I read lots of blogs and pick up my AAA guide book to prepare for my adventure. But this time I decided to see what new books might be worth while and found this little jewel! What a handy resource, with more personality and local insight than any guide book I have ever used.
