Last Resort (Grayton Series Book 1)

Cassey’s life is crazy enough. The last thing she needs is some cocky rich boy trying to destroy her business. Normally immune to these vultures, she finds this brazen hottie especially difficult to refuse.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This was a really great story. Cassandra “Cassey” and Luke meet when Luke comes to try and buy her out of her property. Cassey runs her own restaurant, which is starting to struggle since businesses along the strip, where she is located, are being bought up by a large hotel chain–Luke’s father’s hotel chain. Cassey isn’t going to give up, but Luke won’t either. However, they realize the attraction between them is great. They decide to go for a physical relationship, but soon realize, individually, that they are developing feelings for the other. Luke is now faced with possibly having to go against his father, while Cassey accepts her feelings and does her best to keep the restaurant open. Between Luke’s family struggles and his feelings for Cassey, he faces many tough decisions. Can he fix everything and make it all work?

Jill Sanders develops such great characters, with a story that progresses nicely. Cassey is strong and knows what she wants and how to work for it. She values her family, coming from an abusive home and being adopted. She doesn’t let anything intimidate her. Luke has been driven by his father to learn the family business and be a driving force. However, I sensed that his heart wasn’t completely in it from the beginning. When he meets Cassey, something clicks for him. I love the relationship they have. She challenges him, and he loves it. During this time, Luke realizes there is something being hidden from him in the family business. I really enjoyed how he started standing up to his family and confiding in Cassey. Luke and Cassey were perfect for each other.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read with great characters. I loved it!

It’s been 15 years since Cassey was saved from the hell that was her life for her first seven years. Now at 22, she is looking forward to starting her future as a business owner by fixing up the run down dance club that had been in her family for years. With help from her brothers and their knowledge of carpentry and her business knowledge, she opens what quickly becomes one of the most popular spots on the boardwalk but when a local hotel owner sets his sights on taking over the boardwalk, he makes trouble for not just her but other business owners as well. She’s determined to keep her business and won’t be backed into a corner and forced to sell.

Luke had never been his father’s favorite. That title had belonged to his brother but he’s determined to make his father see that he can be a great businessman as well so he sets his sights on the Cassey’s Bar & Grill but it only takes one look to know that his plans were going up in smoke because there was no way that he could take anything from this women.

Cassey’s childhood story made me cry! It was a horrible start with a happy ending. I loved her relationship with her brothers and I truly hope that this book is the beginning to another fantastic series by Jill Sanders because not only to I want more of her brothers but I also want to know what happened to her sister.

I was given this beta in exchange for my honest opinion and loved it.
Cassey and Luke were great. Definitely swoon worthy moments in this one.
I loved her brothers and would love to see more on them. And the locals rocked.
Ms. Jill has a knack for story telling. She just yanks me right in and I can’t help but feel like I’m part of the story.
