   I love this new Amazon Portal. I am not a “handy-man”, so I have to outsource home-improvement projects. Unfortunately, these service guys can smell inexperience right away, and take advantage of dudes like me. I’ve over-paid for many services and was convinced to buy services that I didn’t need. With this new Amazon service, you stay in complete control. You put a call out for your project, and in 24 hours you will have many offers from various companies. Because the companies know they are competing, the price-points are often better than anywhere else you look. Furthermore, all of the companies will provide clear details of how they will handle the job, to give themselves a competitive edge. This was important to me, because my mounting job was unique and difficult; so reading the descriptions of how the job would be handled allowed me to weed out companies that seemed confused or inexperience.

   On this TV mounting project, I used Bel-Air Smart Homes. They weren’t the cheapest option, but they provided the most detail about the job, and gave me confidence in their ability. Furthermore, Michael Daugherty (the owner) is really personable and addresses any fears you have quickly and effectively. A team of three guys, including Michael, came to my apartment. Michael primarily showed up to introduce his service-hands and to ensure that everyone was on the same page on what was expected of the project. Everyone was professional, and they got to work right away. They performed the job exactly as they described on the Amazon portal, and due to the unique nature of my mounting situation, they really took measures to ensure the safety of the mount. The results were great, I was very surprised that they could mount the TV in my particular situation. I strongly recommend Bel-Air Smart Homes.

   So why not give them 5 stars? Well, there was actually a hiccup during the procedure that resulted in an hour of lost time. The reasoning made perfect sense considering my mounting situation, but it still costed me an additional hour off work (this was done on a Tuesday). I strongly believe they would earn a 5 star on a traditional mounting job, but I must give them a 4 star for this particular experience.

   My experience is completely different than most. Frankly I wish that I had positive things to day my life would have been much simpler. Came late twice. When he came both times he did not come properly prepared to do the work even though I was very detailed about the nature of my walls. Installed the Living Room unit and he had to catch the TV before it fell off the wall leaving two gaping holes in the wall which he improperly spackeled and repaired (see photos). I have not yet repaired the walls. The photos are exacly as he left the walls. Second attempt at installation in LR was pulling off the wall soon after he left. I had to take the TV down and fix the mount. Was supposed to deliver a wire guard which I paid for; he never came back as promised. Additional issues, made online reservation then he called and said he could not make it. When late he never called to let me know, he only responded to my phone calls asking when he was coming.
