The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Pat McCreary as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters.
Fifteen years ago when Pat McCreary was sailing multiple seas and living aboard a 60-foot ocean-going ketch, part of her crew was made up of three pups. Once she returned to solid ground, rescuing thrown-away dogs became a priority and a heartfelt mission. Having grown up in the Florida panhandle, she built a home along the gulf coast, in the Destin / Seaside area. Then, for a variety of reasons she wound up living near the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Despite the change of residence, Ms. McCreary’s passionate love of the seaside, along with her special connection to canines, never left her. “I’ve been a dog lover / advocate my entire life,” she said.
As a passionate pup parent (mom to a rescued six-pack), Ms. McCreary fully understands that vacations can be much more fun with the family hound(s) as part of an outing, so the idea of providing other dog lovers with lovely, unique and comfortable homes, where they could do the same thing, Dog Friendly Vacation Rentals took root…and blossomed. The small, hands-on company now sports homes on the stunning Florida gulf coast and on Long Island, in the beautiful, prestigious and world-famous neighborhood of Southampton, NY.
Today, Ms. McCreary bases her business in Tennessee, but her heart is still connected to the beach locations where she offers vacation properties to countless pet lovers so they can kick back and enjoy – right along with their babies. Still moving forward, she is currently extending her endeavors to a delightful island cottage located directly on White Sound, Green Turtle Cay, in the Bahamas. It is evident she loves what she does and the Founder of this popular niche business sums it up aptly with a wide grin: “It’s such fun! It’s all about ‘beachin’ it with the Pups!”
