Clearwater, Florida (PRWEB) September 12, 2011
Johnson Pope Bokor Ruppel & Burns, the largest law firm in Pinellas County, have announced their representation of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) with their involvement to the upcoming major motion picture, Dolphin Tale. One of the law firm’s specialties is intellectual property law.
In an article by St. Petersburg Times’ Steve Persall for stl.com, Pinellas County film commissioner estimated that a midsized production like Dolphin Tale was expected to pump up to $ 125K into the local economy each day of production, for the 2010 three-month film shoot that occurred Clearwater and Pinellas County. No reports verifying those figures have ensued post-production, but other predictions expect Dolphin Tale to double and potentially triple attendance to the aquarium in the first year.
Because of the economic impact of the filmmaking industry, in 2010, the Florida State government approved a $ 3.5 million tax incentive program to attract the film industry to the state of Florida. Local film festivals including the Sunscreen Film Festival and the Gasparilla Film Festival support the artistic and economic aspects of filmmaking.
“We were honored to represent the CMA in the film production negotiations and the licensing of Winter,” said Frank R. Jakes, the attorney who ushered in the negotiations. “Our firm is committed to our client’s success and the economic expansion of Tampa Bay…we hope the movie becomes the largest single tourist promotion in this area’s history.”
Dolphin Tale will be released September 23rd, and will premiere at Ruth Eckerd Hall September 21st. Johnson Pope is one of the sponsors of the premier event.
