Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort Honored Alongside Sugar Sand Festival With Silver Adrian Award

Clearwater Beach, FL (PRWEB) January 10, 2014

Sugar Sand Festival, an annual ten-day event celebrating Clearwater’s award-winning beaches, has earned the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s Silver Adrian Award for public relations excellence in the special event category. Event creator Lisa Chandler, the City of Clearwater and presenting sponsor Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa will be honored at the 57th Annual Adrian Awards Gala on February 24, 2014, in New York City. Attracting more than 1,200 entries worldwide, the Adrian Awards is the largest and most prestigious travel marketing competition globally.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by the industry in this way, particularly for our inaugural year,” said Chandler. “Building upon last year’s overwhelming success, this year’s festival, now titled Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, promises to be even bigger and better.”

Slated for April 4 – 13, the 2014 event will be a featured part of the City of Clearwater’s annual Fun N Sun Festival. Located just south of Pier 60 near Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach, the 10-day celebration will showcase all that is spectacular about Clearwater Beach and why the readers of USA Today named the destination the best beach town in Florida. The event will also welcome back Team Sandtastic, the master sand sculptors who created last year’s 1,000-ton, walk-through sand display featured in a 15,000-square-foot tent. With this latest public recognition, Chandler expects more sculptors to be entering and competing as well as even more attendees. Last year’s inaugural event welcomed 25,000 festival goers, who enjoyed a professional sand-sculpting competition, sand-sculpting clinics, speed sand demonstrations, a children’s play area by Hyatt and live entertainment.

For the 2014 Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, cost of admission will be $ 8 per adult, $ 4 per student ages six to 17, $ 5 per senior ages 55 and up and $ 5 for members of the military, police and fire departments. Children five years old and younger will be free. This year’s ticket admission will include both entrance into the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit and a commemorative 8×10 souvenir photo for each attendee.
