Dead Malls tour of old Clearwater Mall Florida

Old enclosed Clearwater Mall from 1999 before being demolished a few years later.

Clearwater Mall, west of Johannesburg, has been evacuated following a bomb scare. Security received an anonymous tip-off that four bombs had allegedly been placed in the mall. The surrounding buildings have also been evacuated. Paramedics, the Police’s bomb disposal unit and the dog unit are on scene. SABC reporter Sibongile Mkani-Mpolweni, is there…http://owl.li/JOygb

  1. That chick fil a closed on my birthday actually. Not sure how much longer
the rest of the mall was opened.

always went to that Waldenbooks. good times.

  2. I used to go to Clearwater Mall when I was at Osceola High School back in
1999 where I saw people from East Lake High while I was buying A People
    Special Covers Magazine at Waldenbooks

  3. It’s cool to see U.S. 19 & Drew street at the end of the video, forgot what
it looked like before the overpasses were put in.

  4. I used to go to Clearwater Mall when I was at Osceola High School back in

  5. I was born in Lakeland, FL, and I remember going here with my mom and dad
in the late ’70s… There was a store called “Gems and Junk” that I LOVED,
    hahaha…

  6. This brings back quite a few memories! The mall was never as lively as it
was in this vid when I went; there were hardly any stores open (besides the
dollar store and Chick-fil-a!) when I used to go there as a young kid.
    Thanks for posting!

  7. This is actually upsetting. It’s like watching the video of the World Trade
    Center before the buildings fell.

  8. WOW This is a great video to have out here. lots of memorys here. I
remember the guy upstairs with the drug stuff, he did get busted. Thanks
for posting this. Check out my you tube video: Pinellas Square mall.

  9. Wow thanks for the good memories you brought back with this video. I walked
many miles in that mall from the time I was probably a toddler to about 22.
I sure do miss it. Good times..

  10. I’m having crazy flashbacks of my mallrat days because of this video. I
can’t believe this is on here. Being in my early 20’s when they tore this
place down felt like such an eerie ending to my adolescence.

  11. We actually rented out the old Blockbuster Video store in the last year the
old mall was standing, 2001. It was the beginning of our journey with our
Dance & Circus Arts of Tampa Bay. Our students loved going to get coffee
and Chick-fil-A during breaks at the food court. We didn’t understand why
they tore it down, either, as it was a really pretty mall in really good
condition. They did hold a meeting of all the tenants at that time to try
to save the mall, but corporate America won out.

  12. I lived a few blocks away and can remember as a kid them building it.
Corner of Whitman and Kilmer, We moved when I was 10. A lot of memories
    from around there.

  13. I worked here…my first job in 1996 was Frank N Stein, hotdog and beer
place. It would have been in between Sbarros and Rye Field Deli in that
video…also worked at RFD, Bresler’s briefly, Sakkio Japan briefly, World
Of Science seasonally (my favorite til Beanie Baby time), and the upstairs
drug store, same guy owned head shop and tshirt place as well. Ward’s
started the ball rolling, but there was a lot of internal management crap
going on.Wish I had more room to describe it. Thanks for vid!

  14. @jmandawg Yes I remember those stores. When Montgomery Wards closed down it
kind of had a cascading effect. Little by little smaller stores closed
down, the movie theater left. Seems the mall owners did not want to invest
    in an older mall.

  15. Lot of old memories of this place. Spent alot of time at Barrel of Fun
playing Street Fighter 2 and pinball. 2600 meetings in the food court…
also spent alot of time in the Waldenbooks. Good times.
