The weather took forever to cooperate. I actually spent several weeks attempting to capture this shot from my friend’s condo at Marquis Miami, 30 stories up. Thanks to Leonel for all his patience!
I always track the weather via a live Internet feed that shows cloud cover of different vantages all at once in real time. I was dying to find out where one feed was located, as it was capturing Biscayne Bay from Miami’s mainland.
The feed’s coordinates were easy to track down. I woke up at 0530, packed up the car, and traveled to the docks by Doubletree Miami in Clearwater district. Somehow, I found access to the pool deck of Doubletree. I was stunned to see people already awake, swimming laps in the pool.We all became spectators, as I captured the reddest sunrise I had ever experienced.

Sunset on the Roof – Fall 2014

The Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., opens its rooftop terrace every Tuesday during Spring and Fall, weather permitting, for those who wish to get a better view of Clearwater’s spectacular sunsets and its beautiful harbor.
Sunset watchers are requested to arrive at the library a few minutes early and gather at the foot of the grand staircase on the first floor before proceeding to the roof.
