A clever blend of gothic romance and sci-fi with an unexpected twist at the end. My biggest complaint is that, once it was over, I still wanted to know more about the world in which the story takes place.

Reminiscent of certain episodes from Twilight Zone and Star Trek, December 14, 2015

    Warning: Spoilers in this review

Remember that episode from The Twilight Zone with the department store mannequin and remember that episode where Kirk falls in love (yet again) with a girl named Rayna who has a guardian named Flint who turns out to be an immortal from Earth? Well this story kind of reminded me of these two episodes combined BUT please don’t feel like the writing is a replica. It is not. The writing is very good at telling the story of a girl, who lives in a gilded cage, totally controlled by her guardian. The H notices the plight of the h and tries to help, not fully realizing the circumstances.

If you’re looking for a romance, then this story isn’t for you. And it doesn’t end on a HEA and leaves unanswered questions as to the ultimate fate of the H. Really though, if you like the style of the Twilight Zone, then I think you’ll be okay with that.

One thing to note, the story ended at 75% per my Kindle. The other 25% were devoted to samples from the author’s other works. Not sure if the last 25% was put towards the total page count of the story. I got this for $1.99 and felt for the length it was justified.
