The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued new enforcement guidelines on employers’ use of criminal records in employment decisions in April of 2012. Yet, many employers are in a state of confusion over how comply with the often perplexing and unclear language contained in the 52-page document.
“Even with the EEOC’s current litigious losing streak, human resource managers and other business professionals must be mindful of their criminal background check policies and procedures. The EEOC has deep pockets and will continue to pursue companies with investigations and lawsuits” Connell said.
